A 10-year $500 million global initiative of MSD, to ensure that no women dies giving birth. MSD for Mothers is also known as Merck for Mothers in US and Canada. It is a philanthropic initiative that is providing transformational and sustainable solutions focused on improving the quality of maternal healthcare women receive at a health facility and increasing their access to family planning. With more than 50 projects in 30+ countries around the world, MSD runs its major programs in five countries: India, Senegal, Uganda, the U.S., and Zambia. Its goal is to test innovative models that expand women's access to affordable, quality care with the potential to be scaled and sustained.
MSD for Mothers is investing in India, to address quality care in private facilities, which compliments the national public-sector efforts to strengthen total health systems to reduce maternal mortality.
